Pokedoku is a creative combination of Pokémon trivia and sudoku-style logic, offering fans a daily challenge that they can play in their browser. Instead of filling in numbers in a grid, your task is to match Pokémon with particular categories and traits, so it's a wonderful blend of strategy, memory, and Pokémon trivia.

Rules of the Game of Pokedoku

Pokedoku rules are straightforward but require attention and precision:

  • Objective: Fill a 3x3 clean grid with Pokémon whose selection meets both row and column criteria.
  • Choice: Pokémon must be selected from the set of available options. After you select one, you cannot replace it or reuse it.
  • Dual Typing: When a box fulfills a type, the Pokémon does not necessarily have to be strictly that type—it can be dual-type, as long as one type meets the category.
  • Mistakes: You generally get a limited number of errors (typically nine) before the game is finished.
  • Daily Puzzles: New puzzle are published at midnight EST. Your uniqueness score reflects how rare your correct answers are—lower is better.

For example, when the category is Fire + Fighting, Blaziken or Infernape can be chosen. When the category is a region, the Pokémon must be from that region—Mega Evolutions are counted as part of their native base region. The category for Legendary is Legendary, Mythical, and Ultra Beast Pokémon.

Pokedoku Answers and Strategy

Multiple answers can be correct, but strategic placement is key. If a Pokémon fits more than one box, decide carefully where to place it—once submitted, your answer is locked.
Example: If Pidgey appears and Kanto is a region category, Pidgey counts only for Kanto even if it appears in other regions.
